Quality of Life One of the fastest growing areas in the state, Yuma County is a thriving community rich in heritage and culture. The county of 5,522 square miles is situated on the Colorado River in the southwestern corner of Arizona, bordering Mexico and California. The market area reaches Las Vegas to the north, Albuquerque and El Paso to the East, Mazatlán to the South and the entire Baja Peninsula up to Los Angeles to the West. With a diverse population of 175,000, Yuma county residents are blessed with an abundance of sunshine, a healthy economy and a comfortable lifestyle. San Luis, Arizona, adds to this its own population of approximately 25,000. The architecture in some of the small homes and neighborhoods is unique and reminiscent of years past. The real estate market continues to be successful. The community works at making affordable housing available to the local workforce, with housing options suited to a wide range of household incomes. The Cultural Center, in the San Luis area, with a capacity of 300, has given the City of San Luis a touch of glamour and enrichment as the community plans to use this facility to host several events in the near future. As can be seen, there is a great diversity in the community. Health is very important to the community. Therefore, there are a number of clinics, Walk in clinics and a Sunset Community Health Center, to help in emergency situations. The closest hospital Yuma Regional Medical Center, is only 24 miles away. San Luis, Arizona, caters to the population of our neighboring border town of San Luis Rio Colorado, Sonora, Mexico. There is the recreation at el Golfo de Santa Clara resort in the Sea of Cortez, a small village with a population of over 3,000, about 75 miles to the south, in Mexico. Our neighbors to the South visit with us daily while doing their shopping. The quality of life overall is wholesome and family oriented. Families shop together, play together, and worship together.
